  • River Tyne - Good Friday 29/03/2013

Started off at the Walkway about 0.30am. Baits lug, rag, squid, macky. Only one lad fishing when I got there and he was packing up and gave me his leftover bait (thanks mate) which topped up my lug and added some bluey to the mix. I fished for a couple of hours and caught three codling on worm and three coalies on bluey. As high tide approached I moved to the Brigade Hut for an hour but only caught one rockling. Moved to the Spirit of Shields for the first of the ebb and caught one more codling but it was pretty quiet there so I decided to head home and use up the last of my bait at my local mark in Hebburn. Had a few chucks from the Marina and a few more from the Grassy Bank and caught another four codling and a flounder. All fish were undersize.

So a canny session chasing tiddlers. Thirteen fish, four species. I didn't photograph them all, couldn't be ars3d

Canny few fish for you there mate. I fished the flood at Hebburn today and only had one flatty. Is that a swan in the background? I had one hanging round today, it was fascinated with my line where it entered the water, kept having a peck at it!

That's not a swan in the photo but two of them came passed me this morning while I was there. Don't know what posh birds like those are doing in Hebburn all we usually get are brown eels (turds) floating past though the river is a bit cleaner nowadays
