  • A quiet couple of days fishing

Got myself out this weekend for the first time in a while, mainly to try to christen my new rod I got this week.
Yesterday I fished the flood at Hebburn Marina and caught one small whiting the whole time I was there. Fished with two rods and caught the whiting with the new one, not really what I was wanting but it's a fish.
Today I gave SS pier a shot, starting at the slab and then heading up to the 44 when I caught nothing. Managed two undersize codling but that was it. Again the fish were caught with the new rod a Century ttld which was excellent, a lovely caster and superb bite detection.
The three fish were caught with plain lugworm baits. I gave the Isome artificials a go at both venues but caught nothing with them. Hard to judge whether they are any good or not with so few fish about and the water was not exactly what you would call clear.
Good to get back out again.
Now some cans and the match
