Got there about 6. Few lads at the barrier when I got there, nowt doing, but early days for them. Got some funny looks as I walked past with my float rod already set up from last time I used it in Jan!
Set up about 50 yards up from the first steps on the bay side, stuck a starlight in the top of the float, fishing just off the bottom in about 20 feet of water 20 yards out, hoping to avoid the snags and keep the worm tripping along the bottom just enough to get attention from any pollock hanging around the rocks and weed.
Had bites from the off on rag and bluey on a size 1 hook, feeding small bits of bluey and chopped rag every 20 mins or so. Got a couple of scorpions, Coalies, then about 9pm got the pollock I was after. Maybe only 10 inches, but size doesn't matter, as I keep telling wor lass. Kept going, hoping for a bigger one but it was the only one
Couple of lads who's been on the end passed on their way home about half 10 said they'd been getting Whiteys, so maybe theyre back after their recent disappearance.
Started getting Tommies as the tide turned and the weight was holding bottom more.
Packed In about 12 when I lost my lucky hook. Been using that one for 3 months now.
All Fish back alive, lost 15p worth of gear.
