  • South Shields pier 28/02/13

Went down the pier today since the weather was glorious wasn't looking for fish of any size just fish in general would be nice possibly tempting a few whiteys In.
Anyway got to the end of the pier to find 4 others on and all great blokes they are Bestnest included. 1st cast with me "new" Portsmouth loop rigs using runny down and bluey saw me land 2 fish a very nice flounder weighing around 1lb-1 1/4 maybes bigger as it was very fat and a scorpion fish which was also quite a size.

As the tide started to flood the bites carried on but couldn't connect to anything then the crabs started "nightmare". Fished the tide right through till just before high water with no more fish to show for my efforts but as I say I wasn't looking for "big" fish.

I did manage to wangle this thing out fastened to my grip lead, I think it's a rag worm I'm not sure but it was slimy as hell anyone shine a light as to what it actually is
