    Has anyone tried fishing or heard reports of fishing the middle sections of this pier? Only ever seen people fishing the very end

    can you even get on this pier? i've heard its full of fences and gates and virtually impossible to get on i may be wrong tho just what i've heard from other people.

      You can access it but its not worth the risk. Theyve removed some of the windmills so there are even more holes than usual. It probably takes 20-30 mins to get to the end. It's very very dangerous. The bend before the end can be productive, I've never fished it anywhere else but it's not worth the effort to get on in the first place.

        Thanks for the info so far. I was considering fishing approx 100 yards or so from the pier entrance gate. Easy access at low water from the rocks using the ladders in the pier wall + pier looks ok their

          Bigroppa on here fishes it he is prob best person to give advice it is a very dangerous mark and countless people have been injured on the pier.
          Species 2012 - Cod, Flounder, Dab, Plaice, Pollock, Eelpout, Common eel, Granny Fish, Whiting, Coalie, LSD, Rockling, Bass.

            I havnt been on since the beams next to the end have broken. Its ready to collapse at any time now. To answer your question, yes the middle section of the pier does fish but usually, a northerly is best. Access is very hard going now and involvs a climb 30ft up around a rusty gate. Otherwise its on at low water, off at low water and a 10-12 hr session is a long time if there is nowt doing. IF YOU DONT KNOW THE PLACE, DONT RISK IT!

              i have not been on pier since it closed but as i remember there has been some big fish taken from the middle section one in particular during the 60s held the northeast record for years by a chap called jack barbour section of pier was known as barbours shot
              old anglers never die -they just smell that way
