well i decided to head north for a session ,,,newton by the sea to be exact...
the sea was well away
when i fish here i always tend to fish from the southern part of the scars... pern carr i think its called but the wind was horrendous today...
so i decided to fish from the northern end.. snook point i think...
the wind was coming from slightly behind me and across my shoulder right to left..
any way i had a couple of small codling about a pound and a rockling... so it wasnt a bad couple of hours... all fish came to frozen peeler and runnydown and this was in daylight and i could see a couple of lads coming onto pern carr in the distance...
i didnt fancy being here on my own when it put in dark so decided to head over to join them... but i was joined by a bloke just as it was getting dark so i decided to stop where i was...
any way after a bit craic with him he said he was fishing a club match.. alnwick i think he said...
i set back up and cast towards the end of pern carr....he said i was fishing the chair!!
any way my 1st cast in darkness resulted in a couple of pulls on the rod, which i was holding at the time...
i was over the moon to bring a nice codling in about 4 1/2 to 5lb i think...
while my rod was in the tripod when i was baiting up a gust of wind blew the hole lot over...as you can imagine i swore a little bit...
when i cast out hoping for another decent fish i felt the rod load up as usual but could feel a creaking noise !!!!! when i let fly....
i feared the worse.... but as the tip was still in one piece i just fished as normal... after 15 minutes it was time to re bait so i reeled in the tension and lifted the rod to break my lead free and BANG the tip snapped....
a lot more swearing followed by me packing up and making my way back to the car.... a 1/2 hour walk at least....
there i took a couple of pictures of the biggest fish and about 2 ft of broken tip section.. sorry about the quality but they are in the car headlights and with a phone....
i packed the car and set off for the hour and half drive home... then it hit me.. i had forgot to put the bloody fish in the boot of the car..... by now i was totally pi##ed off....
so if any of the lads who were fishing up there i was parked near the little church and my cod was left on the edge of the road about 50 yds north of the church....
but a good thing has come out off it all...... i now know what to get of santa... a new rod....
cheers
