As mad as it sounds had 1 of the best nights fishing last night using me light spinning rod float fishing with glow sticks stuck to the top of the float, it was flat calm so thought ad give it a shot for a Laugh ended up getting 6, 5 which got returned up to 2lb n lost 2. Al I was using was rag n lug left off the night before just hooking 6 or 7 through the head n letting them work their magic. Think al be doing this a lot more often as theirs nothing better then watchn that float disappear under the water in the dark! Beats lashing baits over 100 yards any day! The biggest was 3lb 3oz . Their was plenty people fishing the end of the pipe but a couldn't tell ya if they had out like but a daint think they would of had as much fun as me.Mobile Photobucket

That's a brilliant report mate ! Well done for you having an idea and trying it out. Don't know if anyone else has ever thought of it, but I bet there will be a few more anglers trying it now.
To be honest I have only ever float fished in the summer for mackerel, coalies and pollack. I would love to catch a decent cod on a float.........so you've got me thinking now.
Cheers, and once again well done.

Nice one mate - I got hooked on night-time float fishing for the mackerel this summer, it's great fun. Never tried for codlings off the rocks though I might just sneak out some time and give it a go! I was on the end of the pipe last night; Chris Stringer & myself had four codlings, a poddler & 2 good poutings (mine went a pound & a half) between us, but we were plagued with loads of piddly little bites that wouldn't come back. Another lad a bit further back from us also got a couple of codlings. Oh, and I also had a lobster (which you probably won't get on the float) which I gave to Chris for his tea.
