  • what a difference a week makes fishing down the Tyne

Last saturday I fished most ov the tide on its way in down harrisons old ship yard with nothing but 2 very small codling and I even foul hooked 1 ov them. Anyway off I went again friday 16th/11/12 this time I tried a favourite spot ov mine called the swinging area on the gateshead side oppisite where the spillers factory used to be,got there bang on low tide using peeler and ragworm I fished 2 rods as soon as the tide came flying in both rods were banging every cast producing small codling which after a quick photo they went back. Then after an hour ov the ebb I got a great bang on my left rod I reeled in what felt like a big fish but I was pulling against the tide but I'm happy coz I still broke my record for a codling out of the tyne 3 1/4 lb. Then it was a mad 2 hours the baits were just hitting the bottom and both rods were coming in with codling from 1lb to 1lb1/2 good sport and apart from my record breaker I managed to return them all safely. One more thing before I go, just before low tide there was 5 cormerents sitting 30foot out every dive they were coming up with fish.....!!!

Think I know the spot you fished, is it easy enough to get a line between the boat moornings? Always though it looked like you would get caught up with the tide pull...... nice fish though!
