Took the bairn (5) down to Smiths Dock yesterday for a couple of hours.

I had a few bites but nothing to show.

The bairn had bite after bite and landed a Flounder about 3/4 lb.

He was only casting about 10 feet out.

So in the end he won 1-0, and he's over the moon and asking to go out again so he can beat me.

Fantastic. Is it ok for kids down at Smiths Docks? Just the fish quay has become just about unfishable with all the snags and that is where I normally take my kids. I was thinking of taking them to Smiths Docks next time out? Is it either side of high water the best time or does it produce right through the tide?

          Cheers,

          Graham.

Aye, He's itching to go back out again.

I find it fishes most stages of the tide, but generally best on the flood, however it drops off around high water for an hour or so.
