After much pestering from the granddaughter to take her all night fishing decided to take her to Amble pier. Couldn`t have picked a much colder night for her first night session. There was already frost covering the pier when we got there at 10 o`clock and the boards were extremely slippery. Went to the 3rd bench down and set up the gear. First cast I pulled out a small codling and then the granddaughter a small whiting. The fishing continued to be a bit hit and miss for me, but the bairn was pulling out fish on just about every cast. After 2 hours she was beating me 12 - 2. I don`t what I was doing wrong but the young`un was loving it and was constantly keeping me updated of the score. Things then went a bit quiet around low water but as the tide turned it started to pick up again, although not nearly as hectic as the first 2 hours. Finished fishing at 05:30 with the final score 17 fish for the Ashleigh and 8 for me. All the fish were s too small to keep and were returned alive to grow bigger for the next time.
After embarrasing me once again with her fishing skills I thought it best to get my own back by posting a picture of her smallest fish of the night.
