Headed to the Walkway last night to use the leftover bait from the weekend. Got there mid tide to find a few others fishing already (and what looked like a junior teach-in just finishing - lots of smiling kids being picked up by mam or dad ) and got set up at the bottom of the ramp.
It was a lovely evening to be out, just a shame the fish didn't want to play along.
First chuck I got a Three Bearded Slug, then nowt for a while and then a tommy Codling. An hour before HT I finally got a decent bite, lifted in to it and it felt reasonable until it finally broke the surface and turned out to be a Flounder that had taken the top pennel hook then got itself tangled and foul hooked with the bottom hook:
Fished on until half eleven when I ran out of bait but only managed another Slug and a canny Whiting (I was surprised there weren't more around, the lads either side of me only had one or two between them). If it hadn't been for the crap tides I'd probably have headed for a beach but as always it beat being in the house.
Bait used were lug, runnydown and a bit mussel.
