me grant and james fished on tuesday as they did,nt get to school with the floods so seen a break in the weather and jumped at the chance could only get as far as the 1st gate wind had dropped off 1st cast caught a eel about 2lb [clonker] then the wind and rain returned james managed to winkle 1 out which we thought was going to be a good fish as he was struggling to keep its head up and this is where he caught his 7lber but after the struggle the fish was just over 2lb and foul hooked poor james always the next time son he insisted on letting it go even though me freezer is empty now lol spoke to bob pat he only had a whiting for his troubles, also fished on saturday gone had three codling biggest 2lb and the other 2 about a 1lb1/2 some nice coalies lost 1 well over the 2lb1/2 when a line slice mine bringing the fish up the wall, when we arrived thier was a lad had a fish about 5lb plus and the lad had said to grant he lost a bigger 1 possibly a double but when we walked off the pier thier was a 3,5,8, and a 12lber caught but i did,nt see any of these fish amazing how these fish grow in size from 1 end of the pier to the mine was about 6lb lol

Got to give me new rod a blast and it was ideal. Casts a dream... Even on the not so perfect conditions! Seen a nice 7lb cod pulled in then jst as I was leaving another about 3lb I'd guess as i was a Amy distance away. Canny day out, wind spoilt it abit, as it limited the places to fish...
I'd be very surprised if there was loads of cod about especially near the piers, there'll be too much freshh water about for them
