well headed down for 6pm got to the first gate and that ruddy wind did'nt half pick up so headed stait to the end at first kept on getting small yty's so l move over and started casting towards tynemouth pier got in to my first sized codling managed to put it back then every other cast undersized cod l managed one around the lb 3/4 and a cracking yty so kept them 2 then it went quiet went to reel in to change bait and got a nice lobster for the pot with the tide ebbing hard l move over to the southeast corner had a couple of small yty's then got a nice tug on my line started to reel in l thought l had a canny cod on as it hunged the bottom most of the way in and low and behold my first thornback well chuft as a few weeks before that l had my first turbot the ray was only around lb1/2 so put it back to give some one else a chance to catch it l left at 3.15am but as l walked off l was talking to a lad at the 44 mark ask him if he had owt low and behold he caught a thornback he showed me the photo on his mobile l showed him my photo we could'nt believe so off home l went with a big smile bait was frozen blacks and frozen crab cocktail
