Took the granddaughter to Amble today for her very first fishing trip. I set up a rod for her, showed her how to bait up and then, because it was quite busy, I cast out for her. Before I had chance to get my rod out of it`s bag there was a lovely knock on her rod tip so I told her to start winding in. "It`s stuck." She said so I told her to lean back and raise the rod until she could feel it moving, then she started to reel in and as it came to the surface she shouted "I`ve got one" Up came this lovely flounder.
As you can see from the huge smile on her face she was well pleased. I eventually got my rod set up and soon we were both catching fish, mainly little whiting with the occasional flounder. The weather turned and the rain came down but the granddaughter wanted to carry on. Eventually we ran out of bait so we packed up and headed back to car with the littl`un saying repeatedly "I beat you, I beat you." Final score 2 flounders and 5 whiting for me. 3 flounders and 5 whiting for the granddaughter. Best bit of the whole day was she asked when she can go again.
