  • christening the new reel

End up at ssp peir don't fish it very often can't even remember the last time a fished with bait there
Started round about the 44 mark athink right on low tide 11ish fished till 4 only noticed 1 bite and that came 2 Nowt
moved down 2 about 2 - 3 hundred yards up from gates seaward and up 2 high water 5ish
Still had Nowt bummer a thought first outing and the reels going 2 blank
Then rite on top water notice a knock not easy doing in the wind which was strong so baited next trace up and look up and lines slack !

    The result

Canny double shot flounder and plaice

Next cast tiny dab then Nowt till last cast 20 to 7 and another plaice about same size as 1 in photo so slow start and canny end !

New reel fathom 15 impressed with can't cast as far as 525 but get impression it will have more strength time will tell and casting will probably improve
Loads of effort for little reward
    But still love it

I saw you pull the double shot in, nice one. I was the one you spoke to before you started fishing there.

Got one chance to go for a pee with all the people up and down, turned my back and CRASH.

They crawled beneath my rods to get past

Have you looked at adjusting the brake blocks (adding/removing) on the fathom? Might help with the distance issue

I don't know if the Fathoms are the same as the 525's in that they seem to get sent out from the factory packed with about a pound of grease in them! First thing I do with any new reel is clean out the spool bearings and put a speck of oil in them to get them running the way I like, then adjust the size & number of brake blocks to suit.
