Had a trip down to a local rock mark in search of the illusive Silver Bars, fully armed and ready I made it to the mark around 6pm. The weather was lovely, wind low and a very slight sea running. One problem, the water was filled with loose weed and debris everywhere, making the clarity less than perfect.
I noticed some gulls feeding just out of plugging range so I clipped on the Trusty Zenith spinner and belted it out. Several casts later and with no interest and bringing in weed nearly every chuck my spirit was almost broken. I looked down at my feet and saw tons of bait-fish, looked out in front of me and saw some action in the water so I thought stick it out.
I decided to change tactics to avoid the weed. So I decided to fish Top water and clipped on my Patchinko.
Fishing the Pachinko in a walk the dog style across the Surface it was smashed into 2nd cast, the take was ferocious, immediately I thought Bass! After a pretty spirited fight a brought in a decent sized Mackeral.
The next few casts we're all pretty similiar, Mackie coming up and smashing the Lure on the surface, it was awesome to watch and great fun to play the fish on light gear. Some were really close in too. All in all I had around a dozen Mackeral , 6 of which were kept, the others were shook off and returned.
I know it's just a few Mackeral, but it was great fun!
