Fished from rock mark over semi rough ground at South Shields this afternoon with my mate Colin Todd and managed two fish each. I had a sized codling and a coley and Col had a mackerel and a very good wrasse. Baits used were fresh crab, mussel and rag.
There are some great marks along the Shields and Marsden coastline. Some are very rocky and kelpy others are onto clean ground. My advice would be to recce them in daylight at low water on the big tides. This will give you some in valuable info about the type of ground you will be fishing onto.
Coddy there is no way your boat was anywhere near Johnsons yesterday. I didn't see any distress flares go up!!! Did you manage to get a full trip in without having to call out the coast guard? lol
