  • S.Shields this morning.

Well, weather finally cleared up and coincided with me being off work so headed down to south shields pier armed with a spinning rod and my trusty Zeniths. Got there around 09:30am with only 3 already on the pier... time to make hay whilst the kiddies werent there I thought....

Fished for an hour and took a dozen Maccys so was fairly happy before I moved around to the small wall to catch an hour of the flood....

Was there around 20mins when I got smashed... thought it was snagged at first but then boom boom boom.... got it to the top and a nice looking Pollock... tried to walk it accresss to the stairs on the wheel but it spat the spinner out.... maybe 3lb or so and would have comfortably been my biggest pollock if i had landed it! Stayed there for another half hour but only caught a couple of coalies and a maccy.....

All in all not a bad way to start my spinning season off so quite happy, kids started turning up in force by about lunchtime so i made a swift exit. Canny day out.

Tempted to try the Leas are in the morning......
