I still had a load of bait left over from yesterday so decided to get up early and hit the pier trying for a plaice. I arrived about 4.30am and set up at three benches along from the first gate (about ten yards past the rail end). Fishing a two hook flapper 1/0 with a few coloured beads on it and baited with ragworm. Third cast I got a double shot of a dab and a rockling - a nice dab too at 31cm. Then dead on high water I landed a canny flounder. About an hour later I caught another flatty only to have it fall off at the last minute as I went to lift it over the top of the wall DOH! It was too quick to tell what type of flatty it was. I had nothing for another hour or so then got another canny flounder. So not a bad session, no sign of a plaice but four fish landed and one dropped
