  • Coldingham 2/6/12

    Hello,
Me and peeagee journeyed up to coldingham yesterday. Got checked in at St Vedas where we were staying and then hit the point at about 11:00.

First chuck mate gets a canny flounder and then a smaller one so it's 2-0 before half time
Fishing was slow to say the least and with HT at around 13:30 I was hoping things would have livened up a bit and at about that time I chucked a one right up the bay and the rod went mental just as I'd put it down

Nice coalie which put up a canny little scrap against the second rod I was using which was me old moonraker Z.

Weather was nice all day and it was good to be there, really enjoy fishing up there

Just a couple of shots of the mark like

Then mate gets a canny dab

    So It's 3-1

I had another lob up the bay with the second rod and got another decent coalie

So it ended 3-2 to peeagee but I reckon I won on heaviest fish

After that it was a waste of time as the water dropped, this mark is a high water mark so if you want to try it then yer best kicking off at low water and fishing it up. It was just circumstances that meant we were there at that time of the tide. We chucked it at 5. Bait used was frozen peeler.

Crap pics off me mob but better than nowt I suppose. St Vedas is a really nice place to stay, quiet, clean, reasonable price and a crackin breakfast.
When we left this morning there were a canny few anglers parking up outside the hotel and heading for the same mark. I must say though, if I had a choice of venues eyemouth would come first.

Welldone mate, fished that exact same spot a good few times, as we normally
stay at the site up the lane (scoutscroft), took my daughter once and she
cought the biggest plaice i have ever seen from them rock, she was only eight, the only prob i used to have was getting bait, as the tackle shop in berwick was crxp and way overpriced.

Yer mate, agree about the shop in berwick, went once and when the fridge door was opened I nearly passed oot. The sands next to berwick pier used to be good for diggin lug but the last time I tried there it was hard work.
Another good spot off of them rocks is right at the end, I've had some cracking flatties there but it's got to be flat or yell get washed off, lol
We called in at scoutscroft on the night time for a pint like and it was heaving, never bothered, just moved on.

If you dont mind me asking mate, how much is it per night to stay at
st vedes, as staying at scoutscroft is getting a bit expensive.

I think It's 30 notes a pop mate which to me is a canny deal as the breakfast is enough to keep yer going for the day I say I think 30 notes because the only room available on that night was the family room which sleeps 3 and is 90 notes so with there only being the 2 of us it worked out at 45 each But still worth it IMHO

Thats not too bad a price mate, a week at scoutscroft in high season is £640,
which works out about £91-45p, and you gotta cook your own breakfast.

                              rock pool

hi lads, you will see a rockpool on the mark in the photo,i take the big rod and fish far out on peeler and have had some canny plaice, but on its day when the water goes that lovely blue colour i use a carp rod and mussel and peeler eithe ron a float or a bog standard paternoster.if you look at low water there is a patch of kelp and sea weed no more than five yards out, just drop it in there, ive had wrasse, pollack, coalies and pollack and even 1 stray codling just flicking it out.if you can catch it right with high tide at dusk or dawn the pollack and coalies can go daft on spinners and sidewinders, dont cast staraight out though cast parralell to the rocks the pollack often take right at your feet,i may even knock the peeler on the head this year as cooked prawn and mussel seem to work just as well.ideal spot if youve got kids and you want to keep the rods knocking
sometimes i sits and thinks, but thinks better whilst sitting on a rock fishing
