  • So Shields pier 5/5/12

Fished for a few hours today. Just down from the blocks. Two founders on first two casts then nowt more until I left.
Rag, blacks and last bit of mackerel from last year.
Wind was a pain but died off as day went on.
Big swell running and they closed the gates early.

At least you got out & caught fish Gary I was out on the pier on Friday the wind was terrible they closed the gates at 2 pm so I came off as was fed up couldn't even see a bite as the rod was bouncing all over, hope to get out over the next few days might try the the little haven beach if the wind turns to westerly

No mate. I didn't have one snag, for a change. I was bit further down think it's the old toilet block area?

Just trying to identify who you was mate, I was fishing a few yards away from the viking. Never got a snag meself but did loose one lot of gear on the first chuck (about 11:00) when hauling a canny flattie up the wall, the leader knot got stuck on the tip ring and the rest is history

Sounds like it was a better than I did. I was fishing on the Big Beach at the Trow Point end 2 hours up and 1 down. Absolutely nothing doing. Surf was huge and I couldn't hold bottom with 6oz wired sinkers.

Hi Mate, I honestly think that mark is a waste of time, I've tried it a few times and same. to shallow
