went over port carlisle today with joe and henry (makes a change me being the youngest in a group) anyway got there just after 10am and got set up. it wasnt long until the bore passed not as big as i thought it would be given the size of the tide. the tide pull was too strong to fish for 20 minutes or so but soon eased. we all cast out using a selection of baits, fresh crab, macky, blacks and prawns.
the fishing today was much slower than last week on the small tides but never the less we all had a few flounders out. we had a £5 a man sweep for the longest fish. i had the first decent one out at 38cm, unfortunately not on my designated rod (since i was using 2 rods). joe then got one out at 37cm to take the lead in the sweep, this was the best one til near the end when henry got a good one out at 40cm to take the prize.
to finish the day off on the last cast henry caught a double sided flounder (see last 2 pics) fully coloured both sides just lacking eyes on the underside a very strange flounder indeed. all in all an enjoyable day, not the best weather wise (a bit light rain at times) and not as many fish as normal but a good day had by the three of us even if joe did get caught short (after a dodgy egg sarnie on the way over) twice and had to "fly a kite" at the back of the beach, cant take him anywhere, you can take joe out of ryhope but you cant take ryhope out of joe, ha hah.
