      the best fighting fish in the sea but should have gone back !!!!!!!!!! but well done on the catch gives others hope of a bigger LEGAL one

        Certainly a nice fish but unfortunately illegal to retain,but at least you know should another come your way ....

              It is a good idea to keep a list of minimum sizes handy for anything you are not sure of.

              Thing with Bass as well is they don't get to breeding until they are around 41cms plus. To get to that size will take them about 4 or 5 years. If you want to keep catching them it's worth putting the small ones back.

                Well done on the Bass mate. I spoke to you on my way off the pier, didn't realise you had kept it or I would have had a gander.
                I had just been talking to a feller i was fishing next to at the rail end about the legal size for Bass and I was surprised when I checked my chart and it said 41cm.
                People who live in glass houses have to answer the door.

                  Yeah, it really should be 45-48 tbh. Because some of them dont breed by the time they are 41 CM. There was a potition on GOV website not long ago, 7.6million signatures... Nothing done about it. Now to me thats a mammoth propotion of the population that wants the minimum size raised.

                    Same could be said about COD. I am sure at the legal keep size they are not breeding? See lots of people keeping 2lbers which I think is wrong.
