Had a few hours this morning at Hartley as the tides were decent and knew we'd get a good few hours on there. Started about 9:30 and fished roughly 2 down 2 up.

With last weeks success at Newton I was expecting a slower session this time but I wanted to get out and try my new saltist haha

There was plenty bites just as the tide turned which I find is often the case with this place.

First up was this greedy little fella who managed to swallow a full crab and 3/0, lovely colours mind.

Then about 20 minutes later I plucked a kelpy out the cabbage, just a small one and he went back nee bother.

Lost a few on the way in after that and packed up about 1:30 just as we were being pushed off the skeer.

A photo of the new toy for good measure, what a cracking reel although servicing the spool bearings looks a bit of a pain with that retaining pin.

    Thanks for reading.

Sorry I couldn't make it today Phil... Life has a habit of getting on the way of my fishing! Lol. Couple of nice fish and a good christening for the new reel

Aye Reg it was cast out. 30 lb line, only lobbing it 30 yards. There's a line of kelp close in if you cast just beyond it you tend to pick up the fish

It was a big tide Reg. Smaller leads I'd worry about rolling about and getting snagged mate. I was using 6 oz plain and grips depending on the stage of the tide.

I'd of had to chop them in half Reg, don't use 3 oz leads haha.

I told you earlier in the post i was casting just past the kelp line not into it !!!! :P
