Hi lads, fished ther lastnight down to low water. Started off on a big skeer to the north end just before the concrete pipe not sure of the marks name though. Was a canny sea running and it looked promising,I had 4 chucks off there didnt get a bite so moved to south end and fished a skeer just before you get to wreck point. Lost what felt like a good fish on my second chuck wasnt using a pennel and crab bait was masking hook point. Switched to pennel rig chucked straight back into same spot but never had a sniff for rest of the night. Went home feeling gutted and absolutley freezing. Might have another go fri sat night.

which one mate? wreck point or the one next to the pipe? The one next to the pipe i lost 2 sinkers and 1 full rig in 4 chucks. Wreck point only lost 1 sinker on last chuck which was surprising because ive lost a lot there over last couple of years.Feel im only just starting to get to grips with whitburn area after fishing there on and off for 2 years, but since becoming a bit bored with pier, river, beach fishing its pretty much the only place i fish now. Really enjoyable and more challenging when ya have to work for your fish. Have spent a fair bit of time down there just trying to suss the place out. Just like some of the feauters round there and the fact its more isolated than most areas round here, not to mention that when you do get codling in between all them blanks there usually of a decent stamp. Babbling on a bit now like must be the drink talking.

Hi mate, i fished the flat rocks skeer to the right side of the pipe. I had a few chucks at various points but the furthest probably no more than 50 yards and usually just plopped into a few holes/weedy areas that i had spied. Im hoping to have wander along at the weekend with a camera just so i can pinpoint some more holes and marks.
Loosing gear comes with the territory, it takes a special kind of angler to fish the rocks where you know you will very rarely get your gear back. It takes a bit getting used to.

Yes mate same here short lobs 40 to 50 yards maximum. Casting to far was probs my biggest mistake the fish are generally quite close in. May be out tonight again this time between gun pits and mudhole.

i like the skeer to the south of the gunpits on the edge of the pond dropping south east between the flat rocks you stand on and the boiler skeer further south, on a flooding tide and lumpy sea. Good luck if your out.
