  • Bad night last Wednesday

Went out last Wednesday for a couple of hours, drove to Jarrow to try out a shot by the pedestrian tunnel, but no cars around and a load of lads hanging about so went back to Shields and fished Brighams. Just fed the crabs for an hour then rebaited one of my rods and casted out and got the line tangled around the cuff on my suit instant crackoff. Then I fitted one of my spare reels on and the line snapped as I thumbed the spool when it hit the water, so I fitted my other spare reel on, baited up and cast out again only to have a another snap off. So I just carried on fishing with just the one rod, while I was reeling in I caught on of the lines with the grip lead, so I had to untangle it from my line and pull in the broken line and retrieve the trace and weight, just as I was pulling the weight over the rails I knocked over the rod I was fishing with and it fell on the concrete and broke 4 of the rings, so I packed in. I have replaced the rings on the rod and wound new line on my reels ready for tonight. Luckily I only had to buy 2 rod rings I had 2 in the garage that I had salvaged off a broken rod.

Think everyone gets a session now and again where everything seems to go wrong, had a few myself and they always seem to be when fishing in the dark.

We all have days like that. Next time out will be better.

Just got back from my usual monday night caught 2, one sizable coalfish and a small whiting and no damage to rods or reels. Both returned alive to grow bigger.
