  • PB codling out the tyne this morning

swung by i.d get meself some bait and a chat on to the bloke that says "MYA" instead of "you know" haha. got to st peters basin bout quarter to 9 this morning, scotty (from on here) was poppin down too for a few hours.. set up by myself not expecting much maybe a few whitin n flatties so on went a two hook flapper with size 1/0 just little hooks. half a rag and a tiny piece of makky on the tip and sent about 40 yards out. first cast 10 mins in line went totally slack and thought maybe a whitin hit it...... until the line tightened up again and went ballistic, struck into it with a good heavy thump on the end. i couldn't get it anywhere near the top so i knew i was into a good fish. anyway after a crackin fight it came to the surface and i nearly **** a brick. it was huge (for me anyway). i got the balls up and nervously swung it up in one big lift praying to god it wouldn't fall off....it didnt by this time my heart is goin mental, my previous best codling is only about 2lb off a boat so its smashed it at 4.6lb (the scales are in kg on the pic)
    anyhoo heres some pics.

had plenty decent whiting too, scotty lookin chuffed.....not

all in all musta had about 35+ fish between me n scotty, flatties n whitin, most undersized but a few guddens. good day, will defo remember this for a while!

aye on the north side in-between the marina and the houses to the east side of the marina. that fish is more than brilliant for me for this winter because i don't have access to travel to take me to beach or rock marks. so to get it from the river is crackin. only a 10 min bike ride away from myne too!

Well done Ozzy & Paul!!!! Nice to have had a chat with you lads this morning. I managed a 1lb whiting first cast at around 11am then got several whiting and flounders thereafter but none on size. Left at about 2.30pm. Good fun though.
So long and thanks for all the fish! (www.lsbsac.co.uk)
