Me and John fished the last 3 hours down caught a couple of chickens, then a hour of the flood still nowt. So i decided to have one more cast since a was at work early the next day and it was getting late. So on goes a nice fresh crab bait resulted in a codling. I ended up having another 5 one more cast's, a fish a cast (bar the last cast) biggest 6 and a half.

John got his first decent bite of the night, he was wondering when he was gonna get his chance. Didn't take him long to pick his TTR up since all he had done all night was lift a couple of fish for me. It nearly pulled the rod out of his hands cracking pull down. Could tell it was double just by the struggle as it didn't want to move for a minute or two. Once he got it close in, I noticed my rod bouncing away again I decided to just leave it. Had to help land the fish. I grabbed his leeda and then the big fat cod surfaced. I started to walk it round watching the swells allowing the fish slack when needed. John kept the line tight till I ran down to the bottom level. Grabbed the line again and headed to the steps. First attempt to bring it onto the steps seen it's belly pull it back off when the swell went so gave it some slack, next wave it's in was the cry sure enough it was, hand in it's gill GET IN i think people on shields pier would of heard haha. That was the last cast this time.*

Bait - fresh crab

Weighed on the pier 19lb 2oz. Then weighed on the proper scales which get left in the house 19lb

did yous use live fresh crab? or frozen
