Fished from 8-12 this morning had 3 nice whiting and an eel, I think it was an eel it was very slimey coiled my line it must of been a young one as it was pink never seen or caught one before. I packed in at 12 after being taken into 2 snags and losing 2 sets but it was perfect early on, had my first out 10 minutes after arriving using macky.

I had the other 2 out on rag, squid, razor and crab cocktails strangely enough the usual whiting crack of macky they weren't touching. The place started filling up slowly straight after I arrived and was pretty busy when I left, the water looks like chocolate aswell.

Someone caught, one of those on the end of the rat house last week, thick slime, and horrible looking things they are, it was dark and I couldn't get a proper look but it didn't seem to have any eyes.

Defo a hag fish, had quite a few. There's times on Roker pier when there's loads about, usually mackerel season as they usually feed on dead and rotting materials and they usually come in a ball on slime on your rig. I actually caught on in the mouth but must have foulhooked it there though as they don't even have proper mouths. Wonder if I can still count it as a caught species though???

get loads on shileds at times.

tie your rig in knots and leave it in a ball of slime like silicone. you can actually cut it with scissors.

they live on dead fish so if your using fish baits and catching them, leave it off.

Ugh!! Hagfish. I caught one a few weeks ago and posted it on here for identification. Horrible slimy things. I love catching different things but if I catch one more of them things it will be one too many.
