  • a wild and windy roker pier 29/12/11

fished half tide upto high and first hour of the ebb this morning not a soul on the pier but me. very windy but fished the bunker so was sheltered from the worst of the wind. baits used macky, runnydown and rag. a slow start nothing for the first hour then it was decent whitings every chuck often double shots, all baits were taking fish. kept around 25 that were too deeply hooked to return and returned about the same number to fight another day. was nice and comfy in the bunker but a bit wild walking off with the wind in my face. nothing big but quite a few around the 1lb mark or just over, an enjoyable few hours with plenty action.

Jeez' you must have been knackered. Fishing for 4 hours, nothing for the first hour then 25 keepers and 25 returns in the next 3 hours. That's averaging a fish about every 3 1/2 minutes. I know you had some double ups, but I couldn't have kept that pace up.
      Well done to you.

i was fishing 2 rods most of the time but packed the heavy rod away just before top water, too much like hard work fishing 2 rods when they're that prolific and a lot more fun on a light rod. just finished filleting them took bl**dy ages there was 26 i had kept. i quite enjoy fishing for whitings when i'm specifically targeting them but find them a pain in the butt when targeting cod when the conditions are right. think i'll try up the tyne somewhere tonight through to the mornings high tide and see if i can sneak a cod or two out.
