  • Durham beach - el blanco

Fished one of the Durham beaches last night with a mate. First time I've been there. Not sure what it's called but in involved about 200 steps down, and oxygen on the way back.

Complete pants. First shot crack off and a 20 minute nest. Second and third, el snaggo, all gear gone.

Moved a couple of times and found a clearer patch, but nowt. Sea was dead calm. One knock in 3 hours, as we fished the last of the ebb.

Mate got one as we packed up, 5" rockling - foul hooked - to save his blushes (venue was his idea).

Good points - out of the house and all the Xmas palarva, and a new venue which I'm sure will produce at the right time.

Bad points - The hike back, I've never been so glad to loose leads in my natch.

All the best to all, and tight lines for the New Year

Hard luck on the beach. Thought about it yesterday but thought river might be better so headed up to Walkway and did canny.

I thought I'd get the blame!!!

The mark is directly below the old Easington pit car park and to be fair looks perfect!

I'll be back down to give it another shot

I thought of Easington straight away. Bottom of the steps and about 30-40 yards to your left and you should get a clear run through, once you strike ya have to keep reeling like crazy The steps back up are a killer, some are 12" high and others feel like 3 foot

If you go round to your right for the first two hours of the flood there is a nice hole to lob in to.

Further left to where I think you were is Cinderella rock, not for the faint hearted but is fished from on top of the rock 3 hours up til 2 hours down but be warned you must get the weather/wind/and tide sizes right to venture onto it as you get marooned.

                          Easington beach....Cracking venue!

if yas wanna fish that beach of rocks and dont wanna park there u can park in front of mine. used to fish that beach plenty when i did not have a car. caught me first codling there at low water too bout 30 yds south of cindy rocks before the 12 ft drop, rough ground, u need rotten bottoms or cast out far and wind in fast...and yes there is always plenty rockling there.
Punch and pull then let rip

We lost a boat load of gear, the mark is probably a bit hard for me at the min. Got some casting lessons on Friday so maybe that will help.

I take it your a Easington lad?
