  • Canny Start to December (fri 2nd)

Headed down to shields tonight to meet up with Baz.

I got fishing for about 7pm first cast codling 2lb mark second cast codling just on 4lb, then it went quiet on the codling front and we played spot the whitting bite in the wind we had a few small ones and one good one getting onto a 1lb.

Then the wind stopped howling about midnight so i headed and gutted the 2 fish and tided a couple more rotten bottoms up and had a cuppa. We were still getting knocks from small stuff and then i got a bite that just started pulling down and thumping lifted into it and it felt a decent fish, gave a good fight all the way in. Baz was on handball duty and he stepped upto the mark got a hold a the shocker and up it came a nice cod just under 7lb.

We gave it a couple more chucks nowt, the wind changed direction strong westerly so we packed up and headed for home.

Enjoyable night shame about the wind.

Should have stayed a little longer i think last night mate. I was the lad who came on a cast befor you's left... cheers for the bait too. Only used a tiny bit of mine so another session tomorrow i feel.

But yeah, should have stayed, next chuck, got one 5lb, then got hooked/stuck up with a better one on the retrieve... lost it, then got one about 2lb, then hooked one got to the side, tried to reel it up... fail... tried to pull line through my eyes... fail...so let it touch the water, drape my line over the side, climbed up for a hand ball, nice big cod 10-12lb maybes more, 3 hand balls up the wall just out the water, big mouth opened flick and sway of the tail and SPLOOSH... gutted its their for another time i suppose.

nothing else the other two casts, blowing of gail but just spying the big slack liners.
