Hello All. First time poster. Just taken up fishing again this Summer after a 20 year hiatus. Used to fish regularly on my native North Norfolk coast, but now resident of Gateshead. Yesterday was my sixth fishing trip on the River Tyne and I haven't blanked so far (just jinxed it probably).
Fished 2 hours up to high tide on the wooden jetty behind the Heliport (beside Metro Radio Arena) yesterday afternoon (2-4pm). Ended up with 5 whiting and a dab. The whiting ranged from 28cm (largest) to 15cm (smallest) and the dab was 23cm. All returned safely and caught on a rag/lug cocktail.
Good fun, albeit a bit windy. Bite detection was difficult with the smaller bites, but some of the whiting still gave a big knock for the size.
Tight Lines!
