    had a couple of hours around frenchmans point.was hoping for a couple of early codlings.nothing about.still enjoyed afternoon.was using fresh crab,hooks were coming back empty every cast.theres always the next session i suppose.

    Hi Regpude and thanks for your report.

    I have been eying up a trip to Marsden....have you any advice for fishing there for a complete beginner?

    I am hoping to find a snag-free part of the beach to fish from, using either a bomber or cascade rig.

      Try Marsden beach 50 yards left of the big steps (Holmes gut), in front of the grotto pub to the left of the rock or 200 yards left of the rock in front of the pinnacle. All three of them shots can throw up codling in the winter months, not sure about this time of year but maybe someone else will tell you how they fish in summer.

        .proberly catch a couple of flatties aswell as small coalies.goodluck on your session,if you go.

          If you want snag free, fish in front of the pub, paternoster or 2 hook flapper, rag tipped with mackerel.
