  • first ever doggie middleton pier 9/10

got my first doggie in over 30 years of sea angling on the middleton pier on saturday afternoon, i was over the moon, was catching loads of whiting then i had a good constant knock thought it was just another whiting but when i started to reel in i realised this was no whitie it was actually giving me a bit of a fight got it to the surface and saw that it was a doggie, landed it and returned it safely back to the sea, ok it only weighed 2lbs at most and they are quite common but it was my first and it made my day. bait used mackerel strip.

Well done. I have yet to catch a one. Never heard of one caught off Middleton.
      Best wishes Mick.

Funny in'it, catch one on the west coast and it's, bloody nuisance doggies, but their rarity over hear makes a pleasant change when someone gets one. congrats

I got one last night in the Whitley Bay match. I was fishing off the front of Hartley Island. It was only 1.5lbs. Released alive after the weigh in.

              Cheers
              Marty

Well done on the doggie, love catching them personally and still a novelty in these parts. Had a double shot of them at seaham last year and had a great bit of sport. Is the gate still off middleton??not fished it since last winter.
