I decided to blow the cobwebs off my bait rod and give Brighams a shot last night fishing from the Spirit of South Shields 9pm to 12.30am. A nice clear night with no wind and flat calm water. Lot's of small knocks from the off and after about half an hour landed a small whiting - just under size so chucked back. The knocks continued and I pulled in half a dozen crabs before coming to the conclusion that it was the crabs doing the knocking No more fish were caught but the crabs kept me on my toes and stopped me getting bored. I saw a shooting star too - it went directly over head then burnt out in a shower of red sparks towards the north. So no fish to take home but I did catch some old gear from the bottom and scored for a sinker and a few beads. A pleasant evening all the same.

Aye I have heard it called both but went for the official ST council option this time
Yeah Pete I have had mixed results there too - lots of blanks but also some good sessions 15+ fish so it's always worth a shot and a nice place to chill out.
Good you saw meteors too Andy , maybe there is one of those meteor shower things going on.

Aye it's a lovely spot whatever we choose to call it, even better when you don't want to loose any gear, barring the odd hook in a greedy flounders belly that you need to lose.
