  • Shields Pier 25/8/11

Initially myself and Parky had wanted to fish a new mark last night but laziness and lack of motivation prevailed an so onto the pier it was at round about 2030hrs.

The evening began in the manner with which it continued for the remainder of the night. The Whiting were out in large numbers with some decent sizes (First photo was 1lb on the nose) being taken on more or less every cast, sometimes double hookers sometimes not. (see below for some good examples!) Bait used was lug/rag and mackerel, although by the mid point of the night we simply ended up using tip bait as the fish were being brought in so regularly.

I had foolishly hoped for a Flounder or Codling at some point during the night but any bait would have found it difficult to survive the onslaught of Whiting long enough for anything else to get to it.

All in all a fantastic nights fishing! even though there was not much variety in the catches, i was still happy to be pulling fish in so regularly. A big thanks to my fishing partner too for a quality evening!
