  • Fun day on the Wear

First session for a few weeks. Out with my dad

Started at the timber beach, got there just before 2 and there was quite a few there who were fishing a comp. Just got set up and 3 numpties in a speed boat got stuck on the sand banks in the middle of the river. We were all p***ing ourselves laughing at them. But they got it going eventually. Didn't realise it was that shallow there.

Anyway fished there until 4ish until the biggest family of chavs I have ever seen turned up. Hew mister this & that & I just had visions of things turning to **** so we decided to move on and give somewhere else ago. Quite quiet fishing anyway. I had none and my dad had 2 small flounders.

We headed to the Glass Centre, which was nice and quiet, but not a lot doing apparantly. We set up and cast out. Almost as soon as mine hit the bottom had a good knock. It was a nice coalie of about 28cm shortly followed by another. Fished really well until high tide then went quiet for an hour or so.

Anyway we fished until 9, I ended up with a total of 16 and my dad 12, a mix of flatties (upto 34cm) and coalies (upto 36cm). Fish were caught on crab, Runnydown, rag & probably most on Prawn. All fish returned to catch again. Every one else was strugglnig to catch, but we had a really enjoyable afternoon.

Sounds like a cracking session. Never fished with prawns in sea water before. I guess they'd be raw?

I like the glass centre. Seems to be not very busy.
