  • Blyth Pier 03/06/11

Up early and down to the pier about 04:25, already a fair few on the end (quite a few kids but all just quietly fishing)... Didn't see much getting caught bar sandeels, landed about a dozen of them myself to daylights/spinners.

Have to say some of the Launce were a fair size, far, far bigger than I've caught in the past for certain.

Noticed a couple of guys leaving had some mackeral in a bag and one of the other guys on the pier reckoned they'd been there since about half two in the morning, landing 8 tigers.

Pic of one of the sandeels for the lure fishing challenge to add another species to my pathetic catch list so far:

    Nice morning:

Cheers mate, barely any air or sea movement going on this morning, lovely to be out with the sun coming up.

Nice report mate I have noticed myself some of these launce are massive, better than a blank anyway and they keep for winter bait which is a bonus.

Was me with the scruffy mountain bike, backpack and black lightweight sports jacket on halfway along from the bend mate, can't miss me (still need to lose some weight! hah). Snagged up a couple of times and had some gunshots from the line when it gave!

Photo - been taking my wifes little compact camera with me, mine's a big bulky thing, takes some suprisingly nice shots for just a point-n-click.

Yer nice pick and eel mate. Were you fishing the river side, just I always thought it was clean ground on the seaward?

One thing i do miss since moving is being able to nip down to the pier.

Had another short session this morning before work (getting up at 03:15 on a work day just isn't right!)... odd coalies and mackeral dotting around, didn't see any great numbers of either. Was back home at 05:55 to get washed and changed.

Couple for the dogs tea (sorry Alan!), have to fight the pair of Border Collies off with a stick when they know there's macky in the bag
