  • cod down the tyne................

i wish... lol, wheres all the fish seriously gone???? went out today down to hebburn marina and caught nothing, never even got a bite that i could say oh i got a lovely bite,, totaly crap, don't know how there can be reports about fish getting caught down the tyne when theres nothing, today there must of been 9 people around the area where i was and no 1 got anything. its got to have something to do with the boats going out to sea catching and chucking them back. i use to love fishing and still do appart from nothing is getting caught so im seriously thinking of giving up. its as if ive give up anyway but i still go , id rather stand and watch paint dry.

Were any of you using crab? You won't have much chance of catching any codling now or for the next few months without it.

if you fish the grassy banks at hebburn on a small tide using crab fishing low water coinciding with dusk you should get some canny results long cast is not neccesary here.

north shields fish quay area rubber plant good shot this time of year with fresh crab ,small tide and fishes good in daylight good cast best here.

I went out last night for about 3 hours. Resulted in 1 codling just undersize, 2 about a pound, 1 just under 2lb and 1 at 2.5lb. Bait used - nothing but blow lug and all on the ebb. crab will usually give you more of a chance but right place and right tactics will get you fish

There's codling to be had at Jarrow, four things you'll need though for success, crab for bait, big tides, darkness helps and a flood tide, Hebburn is poop at the moment.
