  • first size codling of the year

I fished the river Tyne today from about 12-4 today and managed 3 codings, 2 undersize and one sizer. first cast put the rod down and tap tap tap first fish of the day reeled in an undersize codling 30cm, next chuck the same again only this time it felt bigger and i could feel it fighting, anyway reeled it up and up comes a decent codling for me at 2lb 3oz, after that the bites dried up and only managed another undersize codling and with the tide starting to run through quite fast, i decided to call it a day.
    bait used was lug.
