Out today not exactly sure where it is as we're from the peoples republic of Consett. On the Gateshead side of the Tyne about 1/2 mile down river from the bridges there is a car park with an old fishing trawler moored just down from it and you go past a pub on the way down the hill.

Anyways cut to the chase I beat my marra 6-2 with 5 flatties and a whitey to me and 2 flatties to him. I had a scratching rig on and that gave me the pleasure of a doubler on the bottom 2 hooks with the whitey above a flattie.

Nowt big and all safely returned as the rigs were Aberdeen hooks enabling us to get the flatties off undamaged. Wish I'd had a camera though as one of the flatties my mate caught was about 2 1/2 inches long and yet still gave the rod a tug or two while sitting easily in his palm when caught!

Oh and what a beautiful day to boot... weather perfect for early March

Hello m8. Sounds like it was at the back of Gateshead stadium. I've fished it a few times it's a good shot when the flatties are a about.

It's Greencroft actually Mick but Consett is easier for people to locate in their heads ... me and my mate go out every Wednesday and half the time just stumble upon spots we don't know the names of

Seafishing in winter and carp through the summer

Small hooks to catch small fish--hoping a big one might take it.
              Risky strategy-but wins compos.
