  • big one lost off shields pier 19/2/11

went down for 5.30pm big swells fished first gate would of fished the end the it was a bit dodgy as it was coming over the rail end and blocks so waited a while no bites around 7pm move up to 44mark odd wave splashing over one bite so give up and hit the end with a mate of mine ian fished till 2am ian had 2 fish one was 2lb the other 2lb 1/2 but he lost a corker got it all the way in after it snagged up 3 times when l looked over the pier wall got a bit of a shock some belly on it then ian made his way round to the steps just as he got it round to the bend a swell come round lifted the fish and it unhooked its self it was 10lb plus a cracking fish the only fish l had must of been about 3lb but lost that on the way in bloody good knock as well of it mind you l have to say the fish ian had where bearly hooked loads of good bites but could not connect with the fish so at 2pm we move down to the post as it started to get a bit dodgy on the end the sea's started to pick up and the odd good wave was starting to come the south east corner we fish the post till just after 3am nowt there then the waves started to come rail end so headed home the fish ian had where full of sand eel and l even picked a live sand eel up off the pier on the way down must of got washed over all in all a canny night even though l blanked
