Fished the sea league as stand in for one of the Whitley Bay team. Drew Creswell, zone 1, so chose the Carr's, fishing the north end with a southerly sea running. Not a sniff till low water, then, thump thump, then my line dropped loose,so reeling in fast to try catching up the fish, must have been 40/50yds of slack, only to find the fish gone. Next cast with only lug on the hook, tug, which resulted a codling about 2lb. next cast with lug crab and muscle on, bang, a nice codling just over 3lb. Nowt more after that. Back at the weigh in, there were some nice bags of codling at the scales from Boghall, and the flat rocks, puddler hole near the west end pipe, just to name a few places. It was like things were nearly back to normal. So, with enthusiasm renewed, will be back out again very soon.
