      heavier lead lets you compress the rod more, and has more momentum to drag out your line... all 300yards andy

      7oz wieght gets you atleast 30more yards on a cast in a headwind over a 5oz... just heavy and uncomfortable to fish with all the time for me...

          Totally agree mate,you gotta be able to correct your cast to suit the heavy lead,trouble is some anglers cant handle anything above 5ozs...need to get more practice and improve they technic,any rod will do doesn't have to be state of the art jobby,its down to the man using it.
