  • Xmas trip

I am thinking of heading up this way between Xmas and New Year with a few lads from Liverpool and was wondering if anyone can give me the heads up on a venue that will accomodate around ten anglers, produce numerous double figure cod (yeh right) and that it relatively safe as we don't know the area. A nod on the best tides would also be welcome.

would all depent on the weather, size of tide, if ya's wanna fish from the boot of the car or if ya's don't mind a walk ect!

South Shields pier might be a safe option, the Little haven Hotel is on the door step.

Welcome to NESA by the way!

Whitley bay or Newbiggin Caravan park mayb?! Theres plenty of cod about (not so many last night) but club matches are being with 20-30lb of fish when its not flat. All the beaches are relatively safe.

Whitley Bay, beaches, rock edges, bars and booze.
Every thing on your doorstep. Plenty of guesthouses, hotels or the caravan park.
            Cannot promise the fish though

is the river that codless in the 4 years since i left merseyside you need to come over here ??, i know there was one lad wokky ?? that used to pull some serious fish out at low water wirral side, not saying dont come lads but of the time i have lived this side it seems unless you get the conditions right you wont catch more or even the same as you would in the mersey, if you dont mind catching whiting then its a different story, i have yet to catch anything short of 1/2lb, mosly 1 1/2 lb and above , unlike the mersey famous fishfinger things that plague you over there

if your coming still bring your own sewwie lug with you, theres no signs of the stuff over here and if conditions are right for catching baits normally in short supply

Firstly, thanks for the information lads. Whitley Bay looks a safe bet.

Secondly, Treeboa, the Mersey is as good as ever. No whoppers this year but plenty in the 2-5lb range (see my report in the North West section of World Sea fishing from last night). Sometimes you just feel like a change of scenery dont you think?

And yeh all the whiting are still tiny.

aye ray you do that, nice to know me old home is still producing though , even 2-5 is better than blank to none

ive yet to be haunted by fingerling whiting over here, what the locals call small we used to call average to not bad and theres a good stamp of decent ones as well

dont forget your thermals, my temp gauge on the truck was showing -12 early this morn and apparently we aint seen the end of it yet, though it did reach a near tropical -2 yesterday at one point
