Had some bait left from yesterday so decided to fish local due to the roads being in shyt state. Besides, I heard a guy in the tackle shop yesterday, talking about Blackhall beach being a good low water mark - I've never tried it at low water. So off I went this morning, a couple of hours before low water, wrapped up like Nanook of the north much to the delight of the family. Water was well stirred up, good rollers coming in, but held bottom ok, plenty of bait - rag, frozen black lug, frozen squid, mussels, mackerel strips, prawns - the full monty... Had the whole beach to myself until around 15:00 hrs when one guy appeared from the Horden area - I stayed till 17:00hrs mixing & matching baits - different casting distances etc etc but the dreaded weed started making a show.
What a day - you guessed it - nowt!!!! not even a nibble.
Guess I'll have to head further north in future. According to the catch reports on here, lots of cod being caught from Seaham to Blyth - nowt from Blackhall .
