had loads of codling on raw prawns, get a bag of frozen mussels[raw ones] liquidise them in the blender, pour over a bag of raw prawns[take the bag away first lol] let them marinate together in a cool place for about 3 days ,dynamite bait.

Caught 4 codling to 4lb on Sunday night and 1 had 3 prawns in its belly, so they do take them. Other 3 were empty so I guess they must have just come on the feed.

best thing to do with king prawns is get them in the pan bit of chili and garlic. get some proper cod bait and use that.............. not saying they dont work took alot of codlings through the summer on cooked pink soft shelled prawns from the supermarket, whipping them on to hokkies on the boat.

Exactly right mate. If you were to gut a codling and find it had grey-prawn like looking things, they are small shrimps. If on the other hand there are pink claws, (roughly bigger that a hermit crabs), and a pink body, there are definitly prawns.

Most codling I've had at this time of year have had large whole crab in them, both peeler and hardback. (Though co-inccidently, i cort those fish on fresh or frozen crab!!)

                prawns

Cheers lads. Ive plenty cod on worm but uncooked prawns are so easy to store. Better than having to keep running out and buying worm. Thats if they do work as good.
