Championships were fished over two days, on the 19th and 20th October 2010 on the beaches of Portrush(day1) and Benone/Downhill(day2)

150 Anglers from all over the country attended for the National Championships with Northumbria and Durham both sending 2x four man teams. Conditions on day 1 were shocking, with 20mph winds and hail hitting the anglers straight in the face on the North facing Portrush beach. The expected dogfish failed to show due to the condition of the sea, with breakers 300m off the beach, so scratching was the order of the day.
The beach was split into 4 zones with two of the zones almost unfishable.
Ian Ainsley(Durham) and Dave Nevin(Northumbria) drew green zone and had a good battle to the end resulting in them being only 1 fish apart with Ian catching 9 and Dave 8, giving them 1st and 2nd positions on the day. Turbot,Flounder and Coley being the species caught. Small baits of lug/rag/maki appeared to be bait for the day.
The following day, the anglers headed off for the beaches of Benone/Downhill with the weather much calmer although the sea was still big.
Again 4 zones were fished in bright sunshine, resulting in a better stamp of fish, but again rather slow.
Mick Dunn(Durham) was soon on the phone saying that he had a nice Bass of around 3lb at distance, giving him hope of either the specimen or heaviest prize, but Ian Ainsley had to inform him, that he had witnessed a Suffolk Angler pull out a cracking 4lb Grey Mullet, which actually took the bait whilst it was being retrieved in approx 6in of water.
Again the Species to target on day 2 appeared to be Flounder/Turbot/Coley/Whitey and most needed baits tipped with fish.At the end of the Comp most Anglers had caught, but not a grat deal.
    Fish caught Day 1 216
    Fish caught Day 2 260
All fish measured and released on one point a cm ruling.

Overall Results with the two days points added.
