  • advice for thursday 21/10/10

I finish my night shifts on my ward tomorrow morning, so am looking for somewhere to fish the tide up, unfortunately not a beach as i dont have any waterproofs yet, ( I have asked santa, am working sh*t loads of overtime so fingers crossed he get my letter ), i do have a couple of tripods so the place does 'nt need to have railings.

Any advice and suggestions on location, bait and tactics would be greatly appreciated, I am from Wallsend but dont mind travelling a bit.

    Thanks in advance lads.

Blyth pier is always worth a shot when the sea is away. Fishes just as well during the day when the sea is big.

If you want some sport the jetty at Seaton Sluice is a good chuck with plenty of coalies to keep you busy.

These are both cleanish marks but can be snaggy close in. 2 hook flappers with lug a must for Blyth pier and rag for the coalies and other fish that you normally get at sluice

Beacons at Newbiggen is rough ground so rotten bottoms are advised. Probs go with 1 hook rigs and worm or crab/mussel baits.

Then you have the river that is full of fish if you can get the distance to hit the channel.
Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach
